West Virginia Wesleyan College invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Health Science for the 2024-25 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in public health or a related field; a PhD or doctorate degree is preferred. Recent teaching experience, both face-to-face and online, as well as a broad knowledge of the health care system and careers in health is desired. Appointment to tenure track is possible if the qualifications of the successful applicant and the needs of the institution align.

The Bachelor of Health Science major has a multi-disciplinary focus with flexibility for students to complete pre-requisite courses for many professional schools in health-related programs of study. The major attracts students interested in health-related careers and graduates have continued their education to become social workers, health care administrators, occupational therapists, dental hygienists, public health professionals (MPH), community health educators, mental health counselors and others. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to prepare students for allied health, professional programs.

In addition to continuing to grow the health science major, the candidate will have an exciting opportunity to help redesign the major to ensure the curriculum prepares students for their future careers. The successful candidate will join faculty whose programs encompass Exercise Science, Athletic Training, and Health & Human Performance.
